Welcome!

So here we are the first post. Did you know anyone can make one of these.. wild. I guess I will start with what I have done so far. When it comes to art the most I have done is coloring in books like the kid ones with princesses and fairies. The feeling of finishing one and liking what you see is the high that I am chasing here. The feeling of accomplishment that I can make beautiful things.

A lot of us right sided brain humans tend to leave art for those left brained weirdos. Always focused on lists or logic ew. But I want to be creative too and on some level have the stuff I make be appreciated or admired. No one has ever reacted to a spreadsheet the way they do a painting.

Anyway back to what I have done so far. I have mostly dabbled in watercolor painting (which is harder than it looks) and oil pastels. Watercolor always looked easy to me but boy was I wrong. You have to start with the light colors and work your way to dark. Anticipating where each color or shade will go before you begin. Also adding black to everything ruins the opacity of the color. You add more of the paint and less water to get darker colors. I mad the mistake of just using them like acrylic paint which now I have realized defeats the whole point of watercolor.

The paint also has a mind of its own depending on the amount of water you use which has been kind of fun to play with but makes it hard to get a straight edge. Water control is a big deal! hence the name watercolor. Yea that took me a while to put together (I never said I was smart).

The next medium I gave a go at was oil pastel and gee whiz its messy. It is fun to just smush the colors together but its not always predictable. A lot of things I have seen say mixing a few colors is best.

So far this is it. My attempts. My creations. My experience. The plan is to write more actual important information in the next few blogs. This was just my attempt at showing where I have started and what I have learned. Next blog will be more in depth with products and everything!

To conclude my incoherent thoughts you really have to think ahead with this art thing so maybe its not as left brained as I thought.
